About Pahalgam

Pahalgam, the 'Valley of Shepherds', sits where the icy Lidder and Sheshnag rivers meet beneath pine-forested ridges. Once a humble shepherd's village, it became famous as the backdrop of countless Bollywood films - none more iconic than Betaab Valley, named after the debut movie of Sunny Deol. The town is the base for the sacred Amarnath Yatra each summer, but year-round it offers some of Kashmir's gentlest beauty: riverside pony rides, trout fishing, riverside camping, and treks up to Aru Valley's alpine meadows and the glacier lake of Chandanwari. The Lidder River's turquoise waters, the scent of pine, and the open meadows make Pahalgam the quintessential Kashmir pastoral - a slower, deeper kind of paradise.
