About Srinagar

Srinagar, the crown jewel of Kashmir, unfolds along the banks of the Jhelum River like a living Persian miniature. The city's soul is the Dal Lake - a shimmering mirror reflecting the Pir Panjal range at dawn - where centuries-old houseboats and shikaras glide past floating gardens. The Mughal emperors, captivated by the climate, built a chain of pleasure gardens: Nishat, Shalimar, Chashme Shahi, and Pari Mahal, each a terraced masterpiece of chahar bagh design. Beyond the gardens, Srinagar's old city winds with wooden latticework houses, spice bazaars, and the Hazratbal Shrine's white dome. Shankaracharya Temple crowns a hilltop above, offering panoramic views. From saffron fields of Pampore to the paper-mâché artisans of the old quarter, Srinagar is Kashmir's cultural and romantic heart.
