About Aharbal

Aharbal, in south-west Kashmir, is home to the valley's most dramatic waterfall - the Veshav river thundering 25 metres down a basalt gorge in a forested ravine, earning the nickname 'Niagara of Kashmir'. Beyond the falls, treks lead to the alpine meadow of Kungwatan, and further still to the high-altitude lake of Konsar Nag (4,000m), a 2-day trek through some of Kashmir's wildest scenery. The pine forests around the falls teem with Himalayan birds and the occasional musk deer. Aharbal remains off the main tourist circuit - perfect for travellers who prefer the raw, thundering power of untouched nature over manicured gardens.
