About Bangus Valley

Bangus Valley, in the frontier Kupwara district, is one of Kashmir's last true wilderness meadows - a vast twin-basin alpine grassland at 3,100m ringed by dense pine forests and the snow peaks of the Shamshabari range. Its scale rivals Gulmarg, but with almost no tourism infrastructure, Bangus offers an off-grid, raw experience: endless rolling grass, wildflowers in July, nomadic Gujjar camps with their herds, and absolute silence. Reaching Bangus requires effort - a 4x4 drive and final trek - but for travellers seeking true Himalayan solitude away from any crowd, Bangus is among the most rewarding destinations in the entire region.
