About Daksum
Daksum is a quiet glade of towering deodar and pine trees along the Bringi river in south Kashmir, sitting at 2,400m on the road to the high pass of Sinthan Top. Once a favourite British colonial rest camp, Daksum remains a peaceful haven for anglers (the Bringi is rich with brown trout), walkers, and anyone escaping the heat of the plains. The forest here is among Kashmir's densest, and the road continues upward past Sinthan Top - a 3,800m pass offering spectacular views of both Kashmir and Jammu. Daksum pairs perfectly with nearby Kokernag and Verinag for a deep-south Kashmir circuit.
