About Lolab Valley

Lolab Valley, in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, is one of the least-visited yet most fertile valleys of the region - a 25-km-long glen of apple and walnut orchards, rice paddies and pine slopes, surrounded by the lush Haphruda forest. Often called the 'fruit bowl of Kashmir', Lolab produces some of the valley's finest apples. The valley hides several gems: the Sat Barran (twelve doors) cave, the spring at Kalaroos, and the small mountain lake of Lovnag. Its remoteness has kept mass tourism at bay, making Lolab a glimpse of Kashmir as it was - unhurried, agricultural, and stunningly green.
