About Tarsar Marsar Lakes

The Tarsar Marsar Trek is one of Kashmir's most beautiful short treks - a 3-day journey connecting two alpine lakes above the Lidder Valley. Tarsar, a cobalt-blue lake at 3,795m ringed by meadows and snow peaks, is the camp base; Marsar, the deeper twin on the far side of a ridge, sits in a dramatic bowl beneath jagged summits. The trail crosses high meadows carpeted with wildflowers in July, shepherds' camps with grazing flocks, and offers dawn reflections on Tarsar that rival any photograph. The trek begins at Aru and ends at Sumbal, making it a point-to-point journey through some of Kashmir's most pristine high country.
